The Alameda flea market is just around the corner, so antiques, and more antiques have been the only things on my mind. I know that this time we have to wake up even earlier than we did last time we went, so we can not only beat the crowd, but the horrendous Oakland traffic. This morning I found an antique gold box that is beautiful. I have a soft spot for chests and storage boxes, and this one has my name written all over it because it is decked out in a shiny gold like metal!

Get it here.

Even though McQueen sadly took his life early in February, he still won a top design award for his Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Paula Reed, who was one of the judges said, “The entire jury wanted to be clear that the choice was not made for any sentimental reason. The video presentation of McQueen’s last show is one of the most compelling pieces in the exhibition.” His collection had a futuristic feel, and many were blown away with what he was able to create. Even though he isn’t alive anymore, his legacy will always live on.

Apologies

I just wanted to quickly apologize to everyone for being somewhat absent this past weekend. I have been pretty busy, and I haven’t had as much time for my blog. This is the start of a new week, so I am going to get back on track! I hope you forgive me.

I loved the opening performance by Lady Gaga and Elton John. I did want a little more craziness from Lady Gaga, but I did really enjoy watching it. I was completely hooked from the second Ms. Gaga appeared on stage in her glittery, green, accentuated shoulder leotard. Oh, and her matching glittery green shoes stole my heart! I am going to go enjoy the rest of the awards, there will be more tomorrow!

Inspiration of the day: “All that ever holds somebody back, I think, is fear. For a minute I had fear. [Then] I went into the [dressing] room and shot my fear in the face…”- Lady Gaga

I have started my birthday list, and first on it was the blue vintage Jennifer Delonge dresser that I posted yesterday. My second wish is this Dolce & Gabbana Logo Coin Bangle. I am very into gold jewelry right now, and I love the simplicity to this specific bracelet. I could wear it everyday and it would go with anything. I hope the birthday gods are listening to my wishes!

Inspiration of the day: ” That is the key of this collection, being yourself. Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live.”- Gianni Versace

As I keep mentioning, the holidays are sneaking up on us. We all get invited to various gatherings, and need to look our best. One of the most important things is that you don’t show up to a party with your huge over-sized daily purse. Most of us are guilty of keeping too much un-needed items with us, for some reason we feel safer that way. When you attend a party you only need a few items with you: your ID so you can hit the bar, some lip gloss or lipstick, a camera, and some money. All of these items can easily fit into a small fun shoulder bag or clutch. Below are 5 of my favorite bags right now for the holiday season!

Betsey Johnson Sparkle Party Frame Shoulder Bag

Forever 21 Evening Fringe Shoulder Bag

Urban Outfitters Sequin Box Purse

JCrew Crushed Glitter Minaudiere

Harmony Lane Rocker Bag

Inspiration of the day: ” Fashions are born and they die too quickly for anyone to learn to love them.”- Bettina Ballard
