The 2010 Costume Institute Gala was held not too long ago, and I never got a chance to post my favorite looks from the night, and my least favorites. There was definitely an array of styles that walked down the red carpet, which made the event more fun to research.

Oscar Favorites

I thought the Oscars were a great success last night. I think it was the first time where I could actually sit through the whole award show without getting too bored. I thought the hosts were great and entertaining, and all of the stars for the most part, looked beautiful. Here are a few of my favorites from last night.

Today I finally made it to the movies to see Sherlock Holmes. Yes, it was very entertaining, and I enjoyed watching it, but I felt like there was something missing. Maybe it was because it got so much hype, I had expected it to be better. However, I did really enjoy all the costumes. Rachel McAdams looked beautiful as always, and I think her character added so much to the movie… and her clothes. I am not a big movie goer, but when I do go, I always keep my eyes open to notice the set design and of course the costumes. You may think that these things aren’t important in a movie, but they are. People (like me) get drawn in by what they see on someone’s body. If you haven’t seen this film yet, I recommend that you do. Not necessarily for the film itself, but for the costumes and set designs.

Most of us can safely say we are obsessed with celebrities. We dream about the glorious lives they live, the clothes they wear, and the houses they live in. Most of them have endless amounts of money, and can afford anything they want to have (so not fair)! Most of them do work very hard, so I guess it is fair that they get to splurge on things they want to have. However, most of us “normal” people work very hard too and don’t even have half of what they have. Us average people can still look as good as celebrities, except for a lot less money.

Katherine Heigl, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton

These girls look drop dead gorgeous, and I know some of us want to be able to mimic their outfits. Why spend a fortune on this style of a dress when you can get the same style at Forever21 for $16.

I don’t know about all of you, but I am pretty intrigued by Fergie and her sense of style. She not only is beautiful with an edgy look, but she has a rockin’ bod that helps make everything look good on her. Fergie was spotted wearing a leopard print dress, which I am sure cost her a fortune. I found a similar style for only $280.

Taylor Swift

I am not a huge fan of Taylor Swift, but I must say that sometimes she does look gorgeous in the clothes she wears. She wore a sequin Jovani cocktail dress which was very expensive. If you like sequin cocktail dresses you can find some that won’t put you in debt, I promise. Free people has a great one that would be perfect for any party occasion. Oh, and did I mention it is only $68?

I am a huge fan of Shakira. She is beautiful and has a great sense of style. She was spotted wearing a classy dress that wasn’t over the top. I love this style because I feel like you can dress it up or down very easily. Who knows the damage she did by buying hers, but, I found a Foxtrot dress that is a pretty close match to this fabulous look for only $52.

The Angels

New York City seemed to heat up after 4 years. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show finally made its way back to the big apple, with a show that was unforgettable. I am sure most of  us get extremely jealous of the beautiful angels that are seen everywhere from billboards to television. If any of you watched the estimated $10 million runway show, I am positive you felt even more jealous, and had your guy on a tighter leash than usual. The Victoria’s Secret Angels are drop dead gorgeous, and what I like most about them is that they aren’t stick skinny. They actually have some curves, and meat on their bodies, so it isn’t painful to the world to watch them strut their stuff down the runway. Marissa Miller (one of the angels) was the special one who wore the best piece of all: the $3 million Harlequin Fantasy Bra designed by Damiani featuring more than 2,300 cut white, champagne, and cognac- colored diamonds, estimating close to 150 carats. How crazy is that? They probably needed security in every possible spot on that runway. Whatever guy gets to see that type of bra on their gal, truly did something right! If I had that bra I would never, ever wear it! It would go straight into a safe! No guy will ever get that lucky with me (sorry nixie)! Check out some of these gorgeous photos from the runway show!

Independent Woman

Beyonce knowles arrived at the 2009 MTV European Music Awards in an out of this world Versace dress. It looks like the dress was made for her. You can see how perfectly the fabric lies on her body, and the color is just spectacular. The bodice on the dress gives it a warrior like feel, which makes you know instantly that the woman wearing it is an independent lady! Beyonce has a rocking bod, and she definitely worked the Versace dress!
