After reading many articles saying that Amy Winehouse is doing a collaboration with Fred Perry, I finally gave in and believed what I was reading. How is this possible? How is it that every celebrity that isn’t in the spotlight anymore seem to wind up collaborating with a designer? I have said this before, but I think celebrities need to stick with what they are good at. It is rare that someone is born with outstanding singing skills, design skills, and acting skills, don’t you think? Come on, these celebs, need to pick what they are best at and stick to it. It’s just annoying to see all of these people collaborating, when they don’t even know what they are doing! There are plenty of people out in the world who are actually going to school and working their butts off to be in the industry, and it is just a piece of cake for all of these other famous people. I am really curious to see what this line will have. Considering I am not a big fan of Amy’s style to begin with, I probably will feel the same way about the collection.

Yesterday, more than 800 pieces of vintage Chanel was at a Paris auction house, ready to be bought. This is another reason why I want to move to Paris… to be a part of these chic events! Everything from shoes, buttons, blazers, and dresses were a part of this fabulous auction. People from all over Europe as well as phone bidders from Asia and the U.S were the frantic shoppers…. this was a big deal. I have always wanted to attend an auction like this. I think you get great deals on things that usually cost thousands of dollars. Now women from all over the world will be able to sport these vintage Chanel classics for many more years.

Very sad news… Alexander McQueen, one of Britain’s most successful fashion designers was found dead at his home in London this morning. He had committed suicide, and officials found him hanging in his home. A little over a week ago his mother had died and he was having a very hard time dealing with her death. This is such sad news to hear, especially that all of this happened days before London Fashion Week, and he was getting ready to debut a collection of his. This talented fashion designer was only 40 years old, and he will truly be missed by many in the fashion world.
All of us are shocked by what has happened in Haiti. We as a country want to try and help in some way but don’t know what we should do. An easy, and stylish thing to do is to buy a Help Haiti Hope symbol. This can be worn as a bracelet or necklace. They are only $10, and all of the proceeds will go directly to the children who are suffering.
Word on the street is that Bloomingdale’s is close to signing an agreement with Simon Property Group Inc. to open outlets around the country. I hope that this pulls through because I think it will increase the company’s sales even more. A lot of people are still struggling in this economy, but still love fashion and want to be able to wear their favorite brands, but can’t afford the garments at full price. I love Nordstrom’s Rack because you can find so many great things for so much less than what you would see at a regular Nordstrom’s. I like to go to the department outlets for jeans, because I still think they are so ridiculously over priced. I think that if Bloomingdale’s had the same concept as Nordstrom’s rack, many people would be happy to go shopping there. I believe most of us agree that opening these outlets would only have a positive affect on the company.
Oh my gosh, I feel like everyone is dying. Britney Murphy, who was only 32, died of a heart attack. How scary is that? Recently, she started losing a lot of weight, so I can only wonder if that had anything to do with her tragic death. We all know her best from Clueless, as well as 8 Mile, Uptown Girls, and Don’t Say A Word. I always was very fond of Britney. She had a great sense of style, and was always looking spottless on the red carpet. I hope that she didn’t suffer too much.
After Ungaro showed their Spring collection at Paris fashion week, fans of the company were upset with how the garments turned out. Lindsay Lohan joined their team of workers, and as soon as she did, their fans started to drop. The collection was horrendous, and very tacky looking. I don’t understand how they got their collection down the runway. Seriously, I could have done a better job! After their great fail, there was a lot of talk going on as to if they were going to let Lohan stay on their board. I honestly thought she was going to get the boot, because I don’t get how a company would want to risk their brand, for a new timer joining their team. I was wrong, because it looks like Lindsay is staying as the fashion house’s artistic adviser, and Mounir Moufarrige, who got a hold of Lindsay to join, is leaving. The company swears that his leaving has nothing to do with Lohan. I however, am very skeptical. I am very anxious to see what Ungaro will bring us with their next collection.
