On Mother’s Day my mom and I went to Borders, and I was very lucky because she can never resist buying me a few books. One of the great new hardbacks I got, The Find, is a fabulous book that gives you advice on how to decorate your home by great finds from flea markets and antique shops. I am a big fan of both, and am always looking for new tips on how to make an old banged up piece look fresh and new. I really recommend this book to anyone who is also into flea market finds, or anyone who is just looking for tips on how to make their home look that much better!

About a week ago I decided that it was time for me to tackle my display of knotted necklaces. I organized them so that my nice jewelry was hung on my necklace hanger, and my more fashion statement necklaces were stored elsewhere: my bed rail. Now, I knew this was only going to be a temporary thing, I just had to come up with a clever way to present my accessories. Today as I was browsing Anthropologie, I came up with a great idea to buy a bunch of mix matched knobs, drill them into my wall, and hang my sparkly goodies. I am thrilled with how it came out, and think that anyone who is in the same bind as I was, should use this creative fun way to display their possessions.

Today my mom and I got ourselves together and took a ride down to the bookstore. I always love going to the bookstore with my mom, because she is such a sucker for books… meaning, she will always give in and buy me a stack of new reading material! I of course walked out of Keplers with 3 new books, all of which I am excited to read. Domino The Book of Decorating caught my eye as it sat all alone on the bookshelf. I swear, it was calling my name! I haven’t been able to look through the whole thing, but from what I have looked at, I am very pleased. There are tips on how to decorate a home room by room that pleases you. I haven’t even read the whole thing yet, but I am suggesting it because I love the great information that I have already gained by reading the first few pages.
Inspiration of the day: ” There are a bunch of different ways to look at the fashion industry. Is it shallow to work in fashion? Yes, it can be. But does fashion transform a woman who might feel like nothing and unimportant to glamorous and gorgeous? Yes, it does. Does it employ a huge sector of America? Yes, it does.”- Kelly Cutrone
Today seemed like an exceptionally long day at work. Not only was the weather bad causing less people to be outside, but our power was out for a good 4 hours. After twiddling my thumbs for the first 3, I decided that I had to go into the back room and find a book of some sort to keep me busy. I came across, French Country Living by Caroline Clifton- Mogg. I was pleasantly surprised after flipping through the pages. There were some fabulous photos, tips, and after reading it, I decided that I want my home to resemble this certain style. I highly recommend picking this book up if you are interested in interior design, or if you need a little inspiration to get you going!

My boyfriend Nico and I have been wanting to go to the Alameda antique show for some time now. It happens the first Sunday of every month, so we thought that we should get ourselves up early so we could finally make it. We went with a few of our friends, and we had a great time. I had no idea that it was such a big event. There were so many people, aisles of booths filled with goodies, and fabulous food! What was even better was that it was a gorgeous day outside. I didn’t end up buying anything, but there were endless amounts of things that I wanted. They had everything from vintage designer shoes and jewels to furniture and decor. We decided that we are going to make it a monthly tradition because we had so much fun. If any of you ever have a free Sunday happens to be the first sunday of the month, try to get yourself over there, you will be pleasantly surprised!

At work, we sell a lot of wonderful brands. Anything from bedding to lighting, LeCirque has the chicest of everything. This Triple Gourd Robert Abbey lamp has been on my wish list for a while now. I love everything about it: the shape, the size, and of course the color! The only problem is that Nico, my boyfriend, doesn’t like it. I don’t understand how this could be, but I guess I have to accept it. I am sure if I paid for it on my own, and it just happened to end up in our bedroom, he would like it! What’s even better about this lamp is that it is the type of accent piece that you can have forever.
