On November 3rd Hong Kong jewelry designer, Wallace Chan, hit Rockefeller Plaza for his first U.S. appearance. Being in the United States wasn’t the only exciting thing for Chan; his new secondary jewelry collection Chan & Zen, launched worldwide! Chan & Zen will be less expensive than his main collection, which retails from $50,000 to $7 million! Wallace is known for having over the top, beautiful, hand crafted jewelry. He is probably best known for his butterfly brooch, with real lepidoptera wings encased in crystals. Have you ever heard of such a thing? It takes a brilliant person to be able to brainstorm such elaborate designs. I think it is fantastic that Chan gets a chance to expand his collection. This will only help his business, because he will have a whole new batch of consumers, now that the prices are lower. Well, I mean you can get one of his gems for between $8,000 to $100,000. Lets just say, you have to be pretty well off in order to be an owner of one of Chan’s designs. I wish him the best of luck, and can’t wait until I can flaunt one of his pieces.
And remember the inspiration of the day: “That is the key of this collection, being yourself. Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and live.” – Gianni Versace
